Happy (belated) 50th birthday, Lego!! I remember playing with these as a kid (in fact, it's the only toy I remember bringing to the U.S. from Sweden). Back then Legos included very basic shapes and you had to use your imagination to create wondrous masterpieces only to tear it down because you needed its pieces for a new work of art. Now they have all kinds of shapes, machinery, and villains.
Here's a funny Lego clip.

of course there's a cantina, haven't you played lego star wars?
but amusing. What's new my dear Juliann :)

The regular Lego sets were cool, but the real hardcore nerds had the Lego Technics sets (complete with various sized gears, pneumatic pumps, and battery-operated motors). Admit you had these, Juliann!!!

Nope, never had the Technics. Couldn't afford the fancy schmancy sets!
Well then today is your lucky day... there's still one set left at Amazon. Well worth every penny, IMHO.

$249.99!!! Seriously?!?! Suddenly playing with leaded toys from China doesn't seem so bad...
